3D printers replicate fossils at Raritan Valley Community College (PHOTOS)

BRANCHBURG -- Students from the human origin class of Stephen Kaufman, a professor at the ruitan Valley Community College, received an extraordinary lecture and opinion on South Africa\'s recent fossil discovery on Thursday. Conrad comolius, coordinator of the Institute\'s advanced manufacturing program, used the institute\'s 3D printer to replicate fossils of newly discovered species, one found in the South African cave system is called the rising star \". The newly discovered fossils may have a history of 2 to 3 million years. Related: about 20 students in the class watched the replication process and it actually took about 3-and-a- Half an hour, in one-hour and 20-minute lecture. The process started before class. The 3D printer provides students with the opportunity to process these replicas and gain appreciation and more knowledge of the newly discovered species.
