Now, the country\'s largest football code has signed deals for 3D printer merchandise, all of which are options.
AFL will use 3D next season-
The printer created goods and brands after establishing a partnership with the printer company 333D. The Victorian-
Australia-based technology was acquired by Oz Brewing Ltd in January and won a licensing agreement for the football code after approaching the league.
Frank Pertile, general manager of 33 3d, told AAP: \"It shows the AFL people\'s high vision and progress in this new technology and the possibility that it does lead us into it . \".
\"We see this as a real opportunity to develop some truly unique and exclusive 3D printed content.
\"The company will work with AFL\'s marketing team off-site
Develop a range of products, from player action figures to medals and coins.
333D has permission to design and create content for all aspects of the game, including players, coaches, clubs and large games.
Mr Pertile told AAP, \"There are 18 football clubs with unique logos and colors, mascots and a variety of things so that we can develop content around those assets.
\"We haven\'t identified anything yet, but it\'s just a matter of sitting down with AFL and marketing to develop a volume --
Plan for the next 12 months and see what we can come up.
\"He told AAP that the speed, detail and cost efficiency provided by the 3D printer opened the possibility for the sale of the sport.
Ideas in the work include custom souvenirs around player anniversaries, finals seasons, or large games that may run in limited quantities.
\"With this technology, there is no huge preparation time, you can develop things in a short period of time, and you don\'t have to make a lot of things to justify the cost.
\"We can print with polymer plastic, we can print with nylon, we can print with titanium, we are doing all this now.
\"The company produces its own printers in Melbourne and provides printing services in a number of areas such as medical, defense, automotive and aerospace industries.
It is believed that this is the first such agreement in the field of Australian sports.
