Microsoft ditches virtual reality for holograms with HoloLens headset

Los angeles-While companies like Oculus and Samsung are doing business around virtual reality, Microsoft has embraced holographic technology.
Microsoft launched Windows Holographic on Wednesday, a new enterprise that uses headphones called HoloLens to achieve an augmented reality experience.
The technology basically places an overlay in the real environment, enabling HoloLens wearers to turn their living room into levels for the game my world, for example, or let the architect show the client new buildings or scientists on Mars.
